ORCAS Advanced Whole Air Sampler (AWAS) Data. Version 1.0

This data set contains Advanced Whole Air Sampler (AWAS) data collected by the NSF/NCAR GV HIAPER (Gulfstream-V High-performance Instrumented Airborne Platform for Environmental Research) aircraft (Tail Number N677F) during the ORCAS (O2/N2 Ratio and CO2 Airborne Southern Ocean Study) campaign. The AWAS collects air samples in stainless steel canisters for later analysis for a wide variety of trace gases. The analysis was conducted with a gas chromatogaph/mass spectrometer/FID/ECD combination instrument to measure a range of chlorofluorocarbons, hydrochlorofluorocarbons, halomethanes and haloethanes, C2-C8 non-methane hydrocarbons, C1 – C5 alkyl nitrates, and selected sulfur compounds. Data are in ICARTT format, one file per research flight.
