The widespread use of plastic products has led to a large amount of plastic waste entering the marine environment. Plastic in the ocean cannot be collected centrally and degraded because of fragmentation. Therefore, utilizing marine bacteria to degrade plastic particles in the ocean has great application potential. The possibility of degradation of plastic by Microbulbifer hydrolyticus IRE-31 has been study. The whole genome sequencing of IRE-31 strain is helpful to find genes and enzymes related to plastic degradation, and provides a new option for the biodegradation pathway of plastic, which will further provide a basis for the subject of degradation of plastic by IRE-31 strain.
