This dataset describes the deformation that affected Fentale volcano caldera, coeval to the occurrence of a M=6 earthquake on 14 February 2025 (20:28 UTC), located below the volcano.
Deformation was computed by sub-pixel correlation of Planet orthoimages acquired on 7 and 16 February 2025. Products were ordered at "surface radiance" processing level. Correlation was performed on band 8 (NIR) using the MicMac software (Rosu et al., 2015).
A preview of the result is included in this dataset (MicMac_correlation_results_Fentale_2025-02-14_preview.png).
The dataset includes a GeoTiff (MicMac_correlation_results_Fentale_2025-02-14.tif) consisting of 5 bands:
- the orthoimage of 7 February (band 8)
- the orthoimage of 16 February (band 8)
- the correlation score (between 0 and 1)
- the estimated E-W component of displacement (in meters, positive towards the east)
- the estimated N-S component of displacement (in meters, positive towards the north).
Details of the MicMac calculation procedure are given in a text file (README.txt).
Parameters of the MicMac calculation are provided in MicMac_correlation_parameters.xml.
Metadata of the two original Planet products are also included in the dataset (20250207_080600_27_24cb_3B_AnalyticMS_8b_metadata_clip.xml and 20250216_080609_04_250d_3B_AnalyticMS_8b_metadata_clip.xml).
