Rumen microbial community dynamics in Holstein dairy cows under alpha-linolenic acid diet intervention

This project investigates the impact of different proportions of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) feed on rumen microbiota composition in lactating Holstein cows.Sample Source: On Days 21 of the trial period, rumen fluid samples were collected morning prior to feeding using a transoral stomach tube from 10 cows (5 from low proportion ALA diet vs 5 from high proportion ALA diet).Processing: DNA extracted using FastDNA SPIN for the soil kit (MP Biomedicals, Solon, USA), V3-V4 regions of 16S rRNA gene amplified with primers 338F/806R.Sequencing: NovaSeq PE250 platform, paired-end 250 bp reads.Objective: To identify diet-induced shifts in bacterial taxa and correlate with microbial metabolites and host metabolites.
