NRS-8060 | Papers relating to estates acquired for closer settlement

These papers relate to the estates acquired for closer settlement during the period 1947 to 1950. The individual estates are numbered consecutively and for each estate the following details are usually given: the owner of the estate to be acquired, the area, the price paid, the situation of the estate, the suitability of the estate for closer settlement, the estimated number of farms, the amenities available, the rainfall and climate details and fencing and timber availability. The full text of the report of the Closer Settlement Advisory Board is given. In some cases schedules relating to buildings on the land have been attached. In each case notices from the Land Board in which the estate is situated are given regarding the conduction of ballots for the estate and maps of the area are included. Form notices relating to applications for Closer Settlement are also included. A full listing is available.
