Brazil’s Ministry of Transport publishes national origin–destination freight matrices for the reference scenario covering the horizon years 2025, 2030, 2035, 2040, 2045 and 2050 on the Integrated Transport Planning (PIT) portal (pit.infrasa.gov.br). The datasets, built specifically for Brazil, can be downloaded in open-data formats and explored through interactive dashboards in the portal’s “Dados Abertos” section, which is currently open for public consultation within the National Logistics Plan 2050 work-cycle. The same portal details the governance architecture created by Decree 12.022/2024. A two-tier structure coordinates the preparation and revision of these matrices: the Governance Committee for the PIT (CGPIT) sets strategic parameters, approves methodological guidelines and validates the long-term freight projections, while the Technical Committee (CTPIT) carries out the underlying modelling work, consolidates the O-D datasets and submits them for CGPIT approval. All CGPIT and CTPIT resolutions, agendas and methodological notes are published on the PIT site, giving researchers, firms and civil-society organisations a transparent channel to scrutinise assumptions and submit comments on the freight-matrix design. The Brazilian datasets were downloaded on 23 June 2025.
