Genotype-by-sequencing (GBS) of Neotropical brown stink bug (Euschistus heros)

This project aims to use single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), generated by the genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) methodology, to study five E. heros populations collected from 13 locations covering the main soybean and cotton-producing areas and the main habitat type (i.e., biomes) in Brazil. The primary goal of the project is to 1) characterize the levels of diversity in different regions in Brazil across different soybean and cotton-producing regions, 2) characterize gene flow and populations structure, 3) investigate lineage hybridization, and 4) investigate possible gene candidates under natural selection and their functional ontology.
