This project examined the bacteria associated with lobster shell disease. We sampled at the site of disease as well as 0.5 cm, 1 cm, and 1.5 cm from the site of disease. We saw changes in bacterial composition and diversity at the site of disease as well as 0.5 cm from the site of disease and thus termed these locations symptomatic and transitionary shell. We termed any location more than 1 cm from the site of disease asymptomatic shell. The samples submitted here do not include individual lobster, all samples from a given distance at a given time appear as a single sample, i.e. D1T3 is distance 1 (0.5cm) at time 3.
