VPRS 862 Schedules of Grazing Permits Granted, Regulations Land Act 1869

This series consists of copies of schedules listing those persons approved for the issuing of grazing permits and for their renewal under the Regulations of 1874 and 1876 made under the Land Act 1869. Schedules had to be approved by the Board of Land and Works (VA 744) and, where appropriate, by the Governor-in-Council. Once approvals were granted these schedules were printed in the Government Gazette.Each schedule gives the name of the applicant for the permit, the number of the permit, the extent and location of the land, the section of the Act under which application was made, the amounts due and payable and to which Receiver of Revenue.The Regulations relating to grazing permits of 1874 allowed them to be issued to applicants for occupation licenses under Sections 19 and 49 of the Land Act whose application had been refused or objected to on the grounds that the land was auriferous or likely to be required for public purposes. Permits did not extend beyond December 31 each year.In 1876, previous regulations under the Land Act 1869 were replaced with a new comprehensive set. Under these regulations, grazing permits (see Schedule VIIIA) were to be issued under the provisions of Section 47 of the Land Act 1869 until 31 December each year and subject to the terms and conditions published in the Schedule of the Regulations.
