Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU), NHERI 2022: Higher-order Turbulence and its Effects on Structural Loads and Response: A Study on Experimental Equivalence

This research investigates differing higher-order turbulence for second-order equivalent wind fields and its effects on peak wind pressures on low-rise structures. Its major goal was to develop and employ multiple methods to define ‘statistical equivalence’ and investigate whether the validation of the hypotheses is sensitive to the chosen definition of statistically equivalent (within the noise) data. This work supported research led by a Ph.D. student and faculty mentor. It contributes to the wind engineering field.
