Below-ground organic and inorganic material size quantification

These data are from sediment cores that were partitioned in 10 cm intervals, sieved (above 2 mm, between 2 mm and 500 micrometers, and between 500 and 45 micrometers), dried, and weighed. Loss on ignition was conducted on 2 fractions (2mm to 500 micrometers and 500 to 45 micrometers) and recorded as % mass loss. Dry bulk density was determined for each fraction of each core interval. From these measurements we were able to determine the density of organic and inorganic matter in each core depth.
