资源简介:

: The Boko Haram insurgency has generated large-scale internal displacement in Northeastern Nigeria, with profound social consequences for affected populations. Beyond material deprivation, displacement has weakened social control mechanisms within internally displaced persons (IDP) camps which is creating conditions for the proliferation of social vices. This study examined the effect of insurgency-induced displacement on the prevalence of social vices among internally displaced persons in Muna El-Badawy Camp, Maiduguri Metropolis. A quantitative method research design was adopted, in which structured questionnaire were administered to 391 randomly selected internally displaced persons. The data were analysed using regression analysis. The findings reveal a strong and statistically significant relationship between insurgency and prevalence of social vices, including drug abuse, rape, and gender-based violence. Existing interventions, including increased security presence, gender-sensitive accommodation, sensitization programmes, and economic empowerment initiatives, were found to have a moderate mitigating effect on social vices. The study concludes that insurgency remains a major driver of deviant behaviour in IDP camps and recommends integrated peacebuilding, economic empowerment, legal accessibility and social protection strategies to address the social vices.
