EMS LevelofService

Emergency Medical Services, the Aurora Fire Department provides EMS services to the community with over 200 responders trained in emergency medicine as EMTs and Paramedics. EMTs provide care at the BLS level, whereas Paramedics can provide care up to the ALS level. Advanced Life Support, the highest level of care provided by the Aurora Fire Department. These incidents are often time sensitive or severe in nature. Examples of ALS care are critical injuries, stroke, and heart attack. ALS treatment almost always results in transport to the emergency room for additional care or treatment. Basic Life Support, the minimum standard of care provided by the Aurora Fire Department. Every 9-1-1 call that the Aurora Fire Department responds to will meet this basic standard of care. Examples of BLS care are minor injuries and illness. BLS care sometimes results in transport to the hospital for additional care or treatment.
