The effect of feed quality on broiler production parameters

The dataset entails the results of a trial done with specific reference to how feed quality affects broiler feed intake and, therefore, the subsequent production performance. The initial feed was sieved over a 1.18 mm sieve to remove all fine feed particles. These ensured that the mash (to mimic fines and therefore feed quality) that was mixed in 0% to 30% ratios in the final feed was indeed an accurate representation of the feed quality, since all the fine feed particles formed during production and transport were removed. There were ten treatments in total, each replicated eight times, and 5040 Arbor Acre day-old chicks were used for the trial (approved by the Animal Ethics Committee, reference number NAS163/2024). The alternative hypothesis of the study was confirmed, indicating that as feed quality decreases, broiler feed intake decreases as well.
