We examined the population structure and genetic diversity of 35 Lm isolates collected in Brazil between 1978 and 2013, representing a wide geographic area and diversity of serotypes and sample sources. This study constitutes an important contribution to understand the genomic diversity and epidemiology of Lm in South America. In addition, the results highlight the importance of using WGS to uncover Lm long-term persistence.
