Holcosus orcesi genome sequencing with ORG.one

Holcosus orcesi is a critically endangered species of lizard endemic to a small geographic region in southern Ecuador. Due to its limited distribution and the ongoing threats to its habitat, this species is at high risk of extinction. Currently, there is no genomic data available for H. orcesi. To address this gap, we plan to sequence and assemble the complete genome of Holcosus orcesi. This project aims to generate a high-quality reference genome, which will provide essential genetic insights into the species, aid in understanding its evolutionary history, and support conservation efforts by informing strategies for preserving its genetic diversity and adapting to environmental changes.
