Development and application of distributed computing system for big data from long term ecological observation in forestry

An open data archive for monitoring Asian soundscape (http://soundscape.twgrid.org) has been established based on the GRID infrastructure under the collaboration between Taiwan Forestry Research Institute (TFRI) and the Academia Sinica Grid Computing Centre (ASGC). TFRI and ASGC also co-hosted a workshop on joint monitoring of Asian soundscape at the Lienhuachih Research Center of TFRI during 17-20 Nov. 2014. Participants from Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, all agreed on the protocol and open data license for collecting, contributing, and sharing soundscape data on this soundscape open archive to promote soundscape conservation and research of soundscape ecology in Asia.
