Targeted gene survey of the microbial community from human lung. uncultured bacterium

16S ribosomal RNA sequences were amplified from the microbial community in the lungs of human patients whose airways were colonized with Pseudomonas aeruginosa during mechanical ventilation in an intensive care unit. Endotracheal aspirates were obtained near the time of colonization and after varying periods of antibiotic treatment. Approximately 180 full-length 16S rRNA sequences were produced for each sample to estimate microbial diversity. EF508731-EF512008 correspond to 16S ribosomal RNA sequences associated with this study.
