资源简介:
Mucormycosis is an uncommon and life-threatening fungal infection caused by Mucorales that frequently affects immunocompromised people, such as those with diabetes or organ transplants. It usually affects the sinuses, lungs, or central nervous system, although cutaneous mucormycosis, particularly after mild traumas such as Spider bites, is extremely uncommon. We present the case of a 44-year-old Palestinian man with uncontrolled diabetes and a kidney transplant who developed progressive pain, swelling, and erythema on his right forearm following a Spider bite. Despite initial antibiotic treatment, the disease progressed, resulting in necrosis and bullae. A biopsy confirmed mucormycosis, and the patient was given systemic antifungal medication (Amphotericin B) as well as antibiotics to treat the Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) co-infection. After surgical debridement to remove necrotic tissue, the patient's clinical condition improved significantly. This case demonstrates the atypical appearance of mucormycosis following a Spider bite in an immunocompromised patient, emphasizing the significance of early diagnosis and quick treatment to avoid further problems.
