Oral Mucosa transcriptomic data from three HIV+cART patients

Systemic inflammation and mortality in people living with HIV (PLWH) are associated with mucosal immune dysfunction and persistent viral reservoirs in the mucosa and lymphoid tissues. This study determined the underlying mechanism of immunological dysfunction in the mouth and will reveal new directions to address oral disease and systemic inflammation n PLWH from three HIV+cART patients. This project examined the possible cause of inflammation, by examining the interactions among inflammatory cytokines, oral microbial products, and immune cells, with a specific focus on two important subsets of CD4+T lymphocytes, Tregs and Th17 cells. Bulk RNA sequencing provided the transcriptomic profile of the oral mucosal cells.
