Datasets to Inform Participatory Engagement to Reduce Communication Gaps in Puerto Rico

As an effort to improve the accessibility of U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) resources to communities in Puerto Rico, a research team held a virtual internal meeting amongst USGS colleagues (organized with a professional facilitator) to identify and gather information on existing USGS natural hazards data, knowledge, and tools available for Puerto Rico. As a result, a bilingual website gathering all resources was developed, where users can learn about USGS research on landslides, hurricanes, earthquakes, water resources, coastal hazards, tsunamis, ecosystems and environmental contaminants. The team also engaged in a series of listening sessions via Zoom with interested parties and potential collaborators to assess their information needs and preferences, their perception of the agency’s resources, and their recommendations for improvement.

This data release contains data files and their associated metadata regarding the USGS internal meeting, webpage analytics, and listening sessions. Identifying information has been removed from all data files to protect confidentiality in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974.
