Geochemical analyses of lateritic cover about the Greenbushes mineralised pegmatite deposit and surrounding terrain. Samples are dominantly of lateritic duricrust (nodular & pisolitic) and loose lateritic pisoliths and lateritic nodules. Major, minor and many trace elements were analysed and are listed.\nLineage: Sampling of lateritic cover for a geochemical orientation dispersion study by R E Smith commenced in November 1979 about the Greenbushes mineral field and surrounding areas. Follow-up sampling continued until 1983. The purpose was (a) to test whether or not geochemical dispersion patterns could be recognised in the lateritic cover, (b) if so, which elements provided interpretable patterns of dispersion, (c) how large were the dispersion haloes, and (d) what were the implications for mineral exploration in lateritic-covered areas.
