资源简介:
This series comprises Registers of Probate and Administration for the Supreme Court of NSW.The introduction of the Probate Act, 1890 (54 Vic. No. 25) ended the old concept of an ecclesiastical jurisdiction and gave authority to the Supreme Court over the succession of real estate as well as personal property into the probate domain. In its probate jurisdiction, the Supreme Court controls the administration of the estate of deceased persons, the authentication of wills and the authorisation of legal personal representatives to act on behalf of either testate or intestate persons. These records consist of bound volumes of registers with an alphabetical index listing the names of testators according to when the probate application was recorded. Each register lists the testators and corresponding probate number in numerical sequence. Information on each testator includes the probate number, name of deceased, residence, occupation, date of death, date filed, date granted, to whom granted, amount, due date of filing accounts, date of filing, order and remarks.Volumes 1 and 2 contain cross references to the claim of bonds, linked by the probate number.Volume 2 also contains some registrations from 1873 to 1876, which falls under the Old Series 3 registers. The volumes from 3 onwards are the New Series 4 registers which list the probate numbers in numerical order. This series is related to NRS 13660, Probate packets.
