Thirteen pollen samples were selected for analysis from 9GE10, a Middle
Woodland to Mississippian mound center in central Georgia. Located in the
Wallace Reservoir/Lake Oconee area on the Oconee River near Greensboro,
Georgia, this site contains evidence of occupation from four time periods
(0-100 AD to 550-700 AD). Pollen samples were collected from archaeological
features including pits and structures, or mound layers. Analysis focused
on recovering data pertaining to local vegetation, as well as evidence of
cultivated or exploited plants.
