Latilactobacillus sp. strain WDN19 can produce a large amount of D-aspartate (D-Asp) extracellularly. D-Asp is an important intermediate for synthetic penicillin. LAB strains with greater D-Asp production would therefore be valuable for industrial D-Asp production. The purpose of this study is to reveal the higher D-Asp production mechanism of strain WDN19.
