资源简介:
This collection comprises images from a Level 2/3 historic building recording survey at Newfoundland Nursery, Eyam, Derbyshire. This work was undertaken by TJC Heritage Ltd. in March 2023. The project discovered the gradual expansion of an agricultural site, which was enclosed from moorland in the early-19th century, from a small field barn at the centre of regular fields to a larger structure divided into agricultural and domestic use by the late-19th century. The buildings at Newfoundland Nursery represent an example of a 19th-century moorland nursery, specifically for the creation of plantations to propagate trees and shrubberies, of which only limited examples are known to have existed. The buildings contribute to the regional typology of farmhouses, barns, and other rural vernacular buildings as an example of a small agricultural building which developed over time to include domestic accommodation within the same structure, but with a distinct division of spaces.
