The Reception Centre was renamed Warrawee in 1964. Warrawee accommodated 15 to 18 children aged up to 14 years. Warrawee's purpose was to care for children awaiting Court hearing on orders for safe custody. Many children admitted by the Court to the Family Welfare Division remained at Warrawee for a period before being placed with private families or in children's homes. Some children returned to the Centre following a breakdown in subsequent arrangements.
