Helicobacter suis strain SNTW101 isolated from a 33-year-old Japanese patient suffering from nodular gastritis was used for the whole-genome sequencing. In vitro cultivation of H. suis strains isolated from patients remains impossible at this moment. Therefore, we tried the shotgun sequencing of extracted DNA mixtures including host genome, H. suis genome, and other bacterial genome. We found new virulence genes, which may induce gastric diseases in humans.
