资源简介:
17th-century armorial plaque (OF016-031006-) inserted into the eastern face of the western wall, located off centre to the south, of the medieval church ruins (OF016-031001-) of Lynally, County Offaly. This armorial plaque with three lions rampant and an ash tree is located above the burial vault inserted into the floor of medieval church ruins. The burial vault dating to 1680 has an armorial plaque belonging to John Forth of Redwood House (OF016-041----) now Charleville Demesne, who died 22nd July 1680. The Latin family motto beneath the shield reads 'Deum Timeo Regem Honoro' which roughly translates as 'Fear God, Honor the King'. In 1893 George Stokes recorded an inscription on a stone, now lost. It was dedicated to John Forth of Silva Ruba (Redwood) who died in 1680, and was decorated with three lions rampant and an ash tree, which represents the Forth family crest.
