Transcriptome analysis of Boehmeria nivea (L.) Gaudich

Boehmeria nivea (L.) Gaudich is a traditional Chinese medicine. Chlorogenic acid are major medicine active components of Boehmeria nivea, which can used clinically to treat hyperglycemia, pneumonia and cancer. In order to identify genes involved in Chlorogenic acid biosynthesis, we analyzed transcriptome data from leaf, root and stem tissues of Boehmeria nivea by using the IlluminaHi-Seq4000 platform. A total of 146,790 unigenes were obtained from Boehmeria nivea, and 106,786 of them were annotated in public databases. Through the analysis of KEGG database, we found that 411 unigenes encoding the 5 key enzymes involved in chlorogenic acid biosynthesis were identified, and HCT (shikimate O-hydroxycinnamoyl transferase) was spatially simulated and some of these key enzyme unigenes verified by qRT-PCR.
