Dataset for: Delayed Shifts in Salivary Microbiota Composition Following Long-Term Use of 0.06% Chlorhexidine Toothpaste

This longitudinal study characterizes the salivary microbiota and its functional potential in healthy participants across three phases: baseline, 0.06% chlorhexidine intervention, and a 12-week washout period. While alpha diversity remained stable, significant shifts in community structure and 41 metabolic pathways were identified, with compositional changes toward gram-negative taxa persisting even after the three-month washout phase.
