In this era of open social media platforms and wider internet coverage, it is easy to leverage digital platforms for information distribution. With the benefits of this easy information distribution channel comes the danger of fake news dissemination. In recent times, individuals and organizations have leveraged digital platforms to spread news that have been found to be unauthentic. The effect of fake news can be devastating, hence researchers are leveraging existing and emergent technologies to develop solutions that automatically detect fake news. Existing solutions tend to curtail the spread of the fake news by flagging it and/or alerting the necessary authorities to take appropriate actions to avoid harm or tension stimulated by fake news.
