Kingston's City Council meets the first and third Tuesday evening of each month at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, 216 Ontario St.  Council meets only once in July and once in August – unless Council votes to add another meeting. The mayor may also call special meetings of Council outside of the regular meeting schedule.City Council is the body that governs the municipality of Kingston. Its decisions, made on behalf of the people of Kingston, guide the actions and priorities of City staff. The Council consists of 13 elected members: the Mayor and 12 Councillors (each representing a City district). All elected officials serve a four-year term as mandated by the province's Municipal Elections Act. City Council conducts its business in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001 and the Council Procedural By-Law (By-Law Number 2021-41).NOTE: Voting record information in this data set is completed upon the confirmation of minutes for a given meeting, which occurs, typically at the following meeting.
