Dataset: Exploring Indicators of Developers' Sentiment Perceptions in Student Software Projects

Description This dataset contains the full survey instruments and raw responses from our study on how student developers perceive the sentiment (positive/neutral/negative) of text-based statements during software projects. The study was conducted 2022 in a university “Software Project” course and collected responses from 81 unique participants across four survey rounds (146 total submissions). For each of the four rounds, the dataset includes three files: SWP-SentiSurvey-<round>.pdf: Complete LimeSurvey questionnaire exported as PDF (German; the original survey language). SWP-SentiSurvey-<round>-results.csv: Raw LimeSurvey export of all submitted responses (German). The export is unfiltered and may include incomplete submissions, reflecting the original data as collected. SWP-SentiSurvey-<round>-results-English.xlsx: English translation of the response dataset for accessibility and validation. The data remains raw. Overall, the repository contains 12 files (3 per round × 4 rounds). The accompanying paper describes the study design, survey timing, and analysis.
