Number of foreign companies in Russia 2017-2021, by entity type

In 2021, the number of foreign companies with over 50-percent foreign ownership in Russia reached its absolute heights. The total number of such entities in that year was 48,216, of which 329 were joint-stock companies and 47,887 were limited liability companies. The latter have been on the rise since 2017. However, the figures are likely to decrease with the retreat of many foreign brands from the market due to the Russia-Ukraine war that started in February 2022.
