DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION PRACTICES AND SERVICE DELIVERY OF TEACHING HOSPITALS IN NORTH CENTRAL NIGERIA

Abstract: This study examined the effect of digital health technologies on service delivery in teaching hospitals in North Central Nigeria, focusing on telemedicine and electronic health records (EHRs) in relation to reliability and responsiveness. A cross-sectional survey design was adopted, and data were collected from healthcare professionals using structured questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation, and multiple regression techniques. The findings revealed that telemedicine has a positive but insignificant effect on reliability, while it significantly improves responsiveness. Conversely, EHRs were found to have a significant positive effect on both reliability and responsiveness, with a stronger influence on responsiveness. The study concludes that digital health technologies, particularly EHRs, play a vital role in enhancing service delivery in teaching hospitals. It recommends improved infrastructure, staff training, and better integration of digital systems to maximize the benefits of telemedicine and EHRs in improving healthcare service delivery.
