This dataset contains measurements and temporal assessment of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in deep-sea shrimp species obtained aboard the R/V Point Sur PS23_04 (DP08, cruise https://doi.org/10.7284/909796) and PS23_22 (DP09, cruise https://doi.org/10.7284/910034) in the Gulf of Mexico from 2022-07-30 to 2023-05-08. Understanding the potential impact to the deep-pelagic habitat after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill is important due to their large abundance and role in the marine food web (as prey for shallow-living fish and marine mammal species).
