VPRS 15520 Contract Registers (GRS 733)

This series comprises contract registers created and maintained by the Colac City Council. Section 455, Part XVI of the Local Government Act 1915 allowed municipal councils to enter into contracts for the purposes of executing works directed or authorised by the Act. The same piece of legislation stipulated the need for such contracts to be in writing. This series comprises volumes called Contract Registers. They were created to document contract particulars.The Contract Registers provide a brief summary of contracts entered into by the Council for the provision of goods and services.(Contract Registers are designated for permanent retention in PROS 98/01 Local Government Records General Disposal Schedule Version 2002 (Class 5.4.0). The records in this series pre-date the disposal schedule.)The volumes include the following information:contract numberdescription of contractname and address of contractorfinancial details.
