The Whampoa Military Academy was founded in 1924. In that year, with the assistance of the Communist Party of China and the Soviet Union, Dr. Sun Yat-sen established the Army Officer School at Changzhou Island, Huangpu, Guangzhou, which is commonly known as the Whampoa Military Academy. From its establishment until the liberation of the entire country in 1949, the academy had run 23 training terms. Its coverage primarily includes information about the students of the 1st to 23rd terms before the liberation, totaling more than 77,000 entries. Information about graduates from the academy's branch schools and training classes, as well as data from the period after the relocation to Taiwan, has not yet been included in the database.
