Principle of Reflexive Suspension: Interpretive Frameworks, Dynamic Masks, and the Preservation of Agency

Abstract This paper develops the Principle of Reflexive Suspension within the broader framework of Responsible Suspension. It argues that rational agency requires more than the temporary suspension of judgments. Human beings interpret reality through dynamic configurations of beliefs, emotions, narratives, and identity masks, many of which become inadequate under changing circumstances. Consequently, defective decisions frequently originate not from a lack of information but from the persistence of obsolete interpretive frameworks and rigid identity structures. The paper proposes that rational subjects must possess the capacity to suspend not only judgments but also the interpretive lenses and identity masks through which reality is apprehended. Reflexive suspension is presented as a mechanism of self-awareness that facilitates adaptive representation, reduces subjective seepage, and contributes to the preservation of agency. By integrating Responsible Suspension, Dynamic Mask Theory, and the Principle of Dynamic Preservation, the paper offers a new account of practical rationality centered on the protection of the subject.
