WAU013 - Wauyai Ma'ya - Morphosyntactic data

This dataset contains elicited morphosyntactic data from the Wauyai dialect of Ma'ya with Daniel Gaman (born 1960), a native speaker of Wauyai Ma'ya. The data is a continuation of that elicited in session WAU012, and includes includes existential constructions; aspect and mode markers; polar and constituent interrogatives; relative clauses; reflexive and reciprocal constructions; comparative constructions; negative imperatives; the function of 'to want'; and nominal modification by pronouns. The session was recorded on 21 February 2023, in Waimalata hamlet (Waigeo island, Raja Ampat regency, Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19@004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a British Academy Small Grant (SG1920@342).
