Janthinobacterium sp. LS2A Genome sequencing

The goal of this study is to research survival mechanisms in extremophiles from Patagonia, Chile. LS2A, a purple bacterium, was isolated from Patagonian soil in 2017. Based on 16s rRNA gene sequencing, it is believed to be a Janthinobacterium species. The Janthinobacterium genus consists of Gram-negative, rod shaped bacteria that are found in water and soil of cold climates. Purple varieties are of particular biotechnological significance because many produce violacein, which has several antibiotic properties.
