This salary register records payments to staff of the Resumed Properties Department and the State Housing Department. The volume covers payment made in the period 1901 to June 1921. Both male and female employees are included.Information recorded in the volume includes: appointment (such as manager, collector, clerk, messenger); name; date; salary (yearly rate, superannuation deductions); payments made by month with totals; and remarks (such as commencement, retirement, gazettals). Pasted into the volume is a list of employees, temporarily employed in the Repairs Branch, Resumed Properties Department, from 1 April 1913.A bundle of loose papers was located in a pocket in the front of the volume. These include: draft lists of employees, some including birth dates from 1862 to 1904, with details of appointments similar to the Public Service Lists (such as date first appointed to service and date appointed to present position); a published booklet Table Showing One Twenty-sixth Part of Annual Salary from £1 to £1,000 (Sydney, Government Printing Office, 1922); various forms and receipts; circulars; the NSW Industrial Gazette Index Volume XX (Sydney, Government Printer, 1922); and some Government Gazette notices regarding individual appointments from 1921 and 1922. Also in the bundle is an envelope containing Salary Cards from 14 December 1923 to 30 June 1926 for 26 employees carried forward from the entries in the volume along with 12 blank salary cards.
