Escherichia coli as human pathogen

Uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI) and UTI induced bacteremia. The sequencing of several collections of E. coli urinary and blood isolates will provide insight into: a) the genetic determinants associated with infection of the urinary tract both among women and men, b) the genetic determinants associated with the relapse and persistence of E. coli in spite of treatment for UTI and c) the genetic determinants associated with the dissemination to the blood.
