Camelina oil diets on the gut microbiome of gilthead sea bream

This study evaluated the effects of replacement of fish oil with oil from Camelina sativa on gut microbiota of gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata). Three diets, with increasing levels of inclusion of camelina oil (CO) (20%, 40%, and 60%) and a control diet without CO were tested in a 90-day feeding trial. To analyze the intestinal microbial communities, the Illumina MiSeq platform for sequencing of 16S rRNA gene and Mothur pipeline were used to identify bacteria in the faeces, gut mucosa and diets in addition to metagenomic analysis by PICRUSt.
