Australian National Culture and Identity Research Collection

The Australian national culture and identity research collection is based on a number of essays by RMIT Cinema Studies students who discuss the various ways Australian national culture and identity has been explored in Australian (and non-Australian) films. In creating the essays the students had to create records within the Bonza database that were references for the essays they wrote. The essays within this collection focus on various films within a range of genres and styles (some of the film examples include Walkabout, Gallipoli, Molly and Mobrarak) but these are tied together in how the ideas of Australias national identity are explored within the films. The records within the Bonza database have information on how Australian films depict various aspects of Australian national identity and culture. The records include information about the films (including cast, crew, company involvement, and references about the different films within the collection) as well as critical and factual writing in relation to the films and the people involved in making them.
