Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitor therapy reduces the level of DNA oxidative changes in patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia

The study group (n=40 patients) consisted of HeFH patients treated with the PCSK9 inhibitors evolocumab and alirocumab. Of these participants, 15 (37.5%) were men, and 25 (62.5%) were women. The control group consisted of 33 patients with normolipidemia. In the study group, the following parameters were analyzed before treatment with iPCSK9 and again after six months of treatment: lipid profile, Lp(a), creatinine, eGFR, creatine kinase (CK), ALT, hsCRP, FT4, TSH, oxidative DNA damage and 8-OHdG, ox-LDL, anti-oxLDL and TAC levels.
