The invention relates to a load-bearing and heat-insulating structural element (1) having a thickness (4) and an areal extent (2, 3), made of longitudinally cut Typha leaves, which yield rod-shaped Typha leaf particles(5), wherein the rod-shaped Typha leaf particles (5) are oriented perpendicular to the thickness (4) of the structural element (1) and are connected to one another with adhesive (6), preferably with a mineral-based adhesive (6) without significant non-mineral additives.
