Shear wave velocity datafiles for sites in central and eastern North America as compiled by the Geotechnical Working Group as part of the NGA-East project

This dataset consists of 725 shear-wave velocity (Vs) and 212 compression-wave velocity (Vp) profiles measured at sites in central and eastern North America, as well as Vs30 values for 2,358 sites derived from in situ measurements. All data were compiled from published reports and Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) license applications (citations for all references compiled are provided in a separate PDF). These data were used by the Geotechnical Working Group as part of the NGA-East project (e.g., Kottke et al. 2012; Hashash et al. 2014). Velocity profiles are stored in a JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format using a uniform structure for individual sites within the “Velocity Profile Files” sub-directory. Vs30 data are also stored in a JSON format as separate files for each reference considered within the “VS30 from Measurements Files” sub-directory. The data have been screened for quality and uploaded to the Shear-Wave Velocity Profile Database (Kwak et al. 2021; VSPDB).
