Recent studies have revealed that the fecal microbiota in cattle could be an important monitoring tool to better understand the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal (GI) diseases. Limited information is available about the changes in the fecal microbiota that occur in diarrheic dairy calves. The aims of this study were to characterize the difference in fecal microbial communities’ composition, diversity and functional profile between dairy calves with and without diarrhea.
